Licensing Of Marijuana Dispensaries In Phoenix

By Ashley Rogers

Medical marijuana is the term used when the whole unprocessed marijuana plant or its derivatives are used for the purpose of treating symptoms or diseases. This substance has not received recognition or approval by the United States Food and Drug Administration as a form of medicine. However, it continues to be used in many parts of the world for the treatment of disease and relief of symptoms of disease. Marijuana dispensaries in Phoenix are located in many places.

Research is still underway to determine the medical benefits associated with cannabis. The cannabinoids found in cannabis plant are the main focus of research. Some two medications that contain cannabinoids in their chemical composition have been approved by the FDA because of continued research. Hopefully, more medications that contain cannabinoids will be invented and approved for use.

The perceived ability of marijuana to treat several diseases and symptoms has led to debates demanding for its legalization. This debates are hottest in the United States, but they are also ongoing in many other countries globally. In response, several states in the United States have legalized the use of marijuana for medical purposes only. The laws vary from one state to another.

Lack of enough research studies is the main reason why the FDA has not approved medicinal cannabis. Any medicine must first be tested on hundreds of human test subjects to determine risks and benefits associated with it. FDA only approves medicines that have passed such tests and so far, medical marijuana has not been tested adequately. Until the research community conducts adequate studies with cannabis, it will continued to be outlawed by the FDA.

Cannabinoids are chemicals contained in the cannabis plant. They are closely related to delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the main chemical component in cannabis. THC is known for being able to alter the mind and behavior. Besides THC, there are several other cannabinoids in the herb. Abuse of most of these cannabinoids presents severe side effects.

Cannabinoids have traditionally been produced in laboratories by scientists and illegal manufacturers for different uses. The cannabinoids being sold and abused on the streets are produced illegally by illegal producers. Cannabinoids are also synthesized by the human body for bodily functions. Some of the bodily functions that use cannabinoids are regulation of memory, body movement, pleasure, thinking, awareness of time, and concentration. Others include regulation of pain, appetite, and senses such as hearing, taste, touch, smell, and sight.

The medical fraternity is mainly interested in cannabis because of two key chemicals found in it, that is, CBD and THC. THC has several medical uses. The uses include reduction of nausea, boosting of appetite, reduction of muscle control problems, pain, and inflammation.

On the contrary, CBD chemical does not affect the mind or behavior in any way. CBD has been found to be useful in reduction of epileptic seizures and inflammation. Additionally, it is thought to have the ability of treating or reducing severity of mental illness. There is a lot of ongoing research in this field.
