You can always pop an anti inflammatory drug in your mouth each time your joint is achy. However, you should be ready to face some really unfavorable side effects as well as health risks. If you're not willing to experience dizziness, ringing in the ears, stomach pain, diarrhea and many others, skip taking a drug. What you need to do is choose from the many different natural arthritis pain reliever options. Some of the best can be found below, so keep on reading.

Rely on a heating pad. Reach for a cotton sock and fill it with uncooked rice. Tie the open end and microwave for 1 to 2 minutes. After checking that it's not burning hot, carefully place on your aching joint. Do this several times a day until you attain much needed relief.

Rely on an ice pack. Avoid applying heat if there's swelling present because such will only aggravate the problem. Instead, what you should do is use an ice pack. According to experts, you should refrain from placing ice cubes straight on your skin. They say that you should wrap them first in a small towel before applying on the swollen joint.

Try a strong infusion of chamomile. In a cup of hot water, dunk 2 chamomile tea bags. Allow them to steep there for several minutes until lukewarm. Grab a large cotton pad and soak it in the tea. Place and leave on the painful and swollen joint until completely cool. Repeat if necessary.

Apply a little turmeric paste. Place 1 tablespoon of turmeric in a small bowl. Add 1 drop of water at a time while mixing. As soon as the mixture has a creamy texture, stop adding water. Massage the resulting paste on your joint and allow it to dry there. No need to rinse off with water. Turmeric may be applied on the problem area several times per day.

Drink ginger tea. Ginger is related to turmeric and that's why it is also an excellent home remedy for arthritis. All you have to do is place 1 teaspoon of grated fresh ginger root in a cup of hot water. After a few minutes, strain the tea. Go ahead and add 1 teaspoon of honey or lemon juice to make it taste better. You may consume a cup of freshly brewed ginger tea morning and night for faster relief.

Consume oily types of fish. There are healthy fats present in oily fish and they are called omega 3 fatty acids. They are good for anyone who is afflicted with arthritis as they have anti inflammatory properties. On a regular basis, include oily fish in your diet such as salmon, herring, trout, sardines, halibut and tuna.

Take fish oil supplements daily. If it's not possible for you to add lots of oily fish to your diet, do not worry. That's because you may simply take 1 fish oil capsule daily. However, it's a good idea for you to first consult your doctor most especially if you are prescribed with blood thinning drugs as fish oil can cause your blood to thin further. This is not a good thing because you may bleed excessively should you end up with a wound or undergo surgery.
